Philipp Pattberg is professor of transnational environmental governance and policy, and head of the Department of Environmental Policy Analysis, Institute for Environmental Studies at VU University Amsterdam. Philip is the general director of the Netherlands Research School of Socio-Economic and Natural Sciences of the Environment (SENSE) and chair of the board the newly-formed Amsterdam Sustainability Institute. Philipp has won several scholarships, grants and awards, including the Science Prize of the German Political Science Association and a Grant from the Netherlands Scientific Organization. Philipp holds a PhD summa cum laude from Freie Universität Berlin and a post-graduate diploma in International Relations from the John Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies. Philipp’s most recent book is “The Anthropocene Debate and Political Science” (Routledge).
